How does a parent group incorporate?

Most states have a form online that can be completed and filed to incorporate a parent group. Incorporation is fairly straightforward — just fill in the blanks. However, if a group plans to apply to the IRS for federal tax-exempt status or to join Parent Booster and obtain federal tax-exempt status, certain special language must be included in the Articles of Incorporation. This special IRS language is frequently NOT included in the state fill-in forms.

Can Parent Booster help our group get incorporated?

Yes, when joining Parent Booster you may ask for assistance to incorporate. For a fee of $195 Parent Booster will draft and assist you to file Articles of Incorporation in your state. The IRS required language is included in the PBUSA Membership Eligibility Checklist.

PB USA is authorized by the Internal Revenue Service, as a "central organization" under a group letter ruling to recognize and provide our members ("subordinates" in IRS language) with immediate 501(c)(3) exempt status. See IRS Publication 4573 for more information (especially the last Q&A on page 4.).
